I’m working in the Finance Department, I started as an Auditor then I was promoted to Experienced Auditor in the Tax and Audit Dept. but physically I was working as Tax Accountant, then I moved to the Reporting Dept., and now I’m a Senior Accountant II in the Accounting Dept. and here are some of my responsibilities and achievements:

Accounting Dept.

• Discovered some analytical features in our accounting system (Artesia AS-400) and got the CFO approval to give me the chance to organize a training session for all my colleagues in the finance team to direct them how to benefit from these analytical features which saved lots of time and effort.

• Review and post all monthly entries and reports related to 16 of Apache concessions.

• Make sure proper accruals are booked in the ledger.

• Review actual JV billings and make sure they are error free before booking.

• Review balance sheet, general ledger, and income statement for any errors or unusual transactions.

• Responsible for month end and yearend close for 16 of Apache concessions.

• Make sure that JIB process is reflected correctly between gross and net concessions.

• Report actual ECRs quarterly to EGPC.

• Review partner billings and cash calls by the end of the closing of every month and send them to partners.

• Review monthly bank reconciliations.

• Attend monthly meetings and conference calls related to monthly closing as required.

• Assist with annual SOX audit by fulfilling their information requests.

• Supports annual audit by providing information and answers to auditors.

• Ensure compliance with required external and internal controls.

Reporting Dept.

• Responsible for the monthly closing steps of the holding company.

• Participating in the preparation of the yearly budget plan.

• Prepare several monthly and quarterly reports to be submitted to the upper level management or the Headquarter.

• Work on the improvements needed for the current reports.

• Upload the final ledger data to the Hyperion FDM/HFM system as a final step for the monthly closing.

• Work as a superuser for EssBase System (Extended Spread Sheet dataBase) with an expert as a new analytic application.

Tax & Audit Dept

• Responsible for all Apache Egypt Companies tax related matters (Corporate, Salaries, Stamp and Sales) and coordinating with the tax advisor in this regard.

• Succeeded to increase all employees’ salaries (More than 300 employee) without adding any burden to the company when I discovered that the company is not making the best out of the income tax law exemptions and worked with the payroll system developer to make it in consistence with tax law.

• Changed the format of the existing Excel files and developed it by using Macros and Pivot Tables which saved much time and effort and was appreciated by my managers.

• Prepare tax declarations for all Apache Egypt Companies by the end of the financial year and send it to our Tax Advisor for review before submitting to Tax Authority.

I started as a junior accountant & external auditor, but I managed to gain the confidence and respect of my directors within few weeks, which made my salary doubled five times in only four years.

Some of my responsibilities :-

• Prepare all kinds of analysis and reports needed for all kinds of tax audit (corporate, sales, salaries and stamp).

• Participate in negotiations with tax authority concerning corporate tax, salaries tax, sales tax, and stamp tax audits.

• Prepare the financial statements and tax declarations in accordance with tax authority regulations.

• Leading a team of 3 junior external auditors to perform scheduled external audits in several types of companies (Manufacture, Export & Import, Construction, Trade, etc.. ).

This is a part time job which I really enjoy doing it regardless of what I earn, through this part time job I meet and deal with real businessmen, CEO’s of several banks and many VIP's. Cairo International Bank is located in Uganda and has no branches or representative office in Egypt, accordingly I do lots of things for the bank in Egypt like:

• Receiving, sending and delivering correspondences between the Bank and its customers, correspondents, shareholders and board members.

• Manage to buy the bank year-end gifts (Diaries, Calendars, Paper Weights, medals, mugs, … etc) from the Egyptian market with the bank name and logo printed or engraved on it.

• Make hotel reservations for board members who are not living in Egypt.

• Provide the bank with some equipment upon their request from the Egyptian market like queuing system and money exchange rate boards.

As Apache management considered me one of their best staff in analytics as a superuser for Microsoft Excel, starting Feb-17 they offered me the chance to share my knowledge with all Apache employees by organizing monthly Excel courses for entry, intermediate and advanced levels, I managed to prepare a material for each level to fulfill their needs, it was an excellent opportunity for me to voluntary share my knowledge with my colleagues and teach them some new tips and tricks in Excel.
